Greyhound Rock State Marine Conservation Area (SMCA) is a protected area off the coast of California, near the north side of Greyhound Rock and the northern edge of Scott Creek Beach. It's part of a larger marine protected area system that includes Año Nuevo State Marine Reserve.
A few of my teammates and I volunteered to help the research teams from Moss Landing Marine Labs with SurfZone fish sampling. We learned about sampling techniques, monitoring, fish ecology, and conservation. Thanks Diana Stellar and Kevin Hinterman for making this possible.

The Seymour Marine Discovery Center is a community-supported marine science education center operated by the University of California, Santa Cruz.
I attended this event on ACCESSdiving and Scientific Diving to learn more about the field of Marine Science. We watched films by researchers who then talked about their experiences and the paths to research diving certifications.
